Completion of this program leads to an Attestation of Vocational Specialization (AVS).
The Attestation of Vocational Specialization (AVS) is a short specialized training program for holders of a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS).
The AVS allows you to:
- To expand the knowledge acquired during the Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in a related area or specialization.
- Studies leading to AVS typically last 3 to 8 months (300 to 900 hours of study).

Program Description
The Legal Secretarial professional studies program aims to train individuals capable of practicing the profession of legal secretary.
Legal secretaries assist legal professionals, particularly with client service, liaising with various stakeholders, managing deadlines and schedules, transcribing, drafting, formatting, and revising pleadings, notarial deeds, government forms, and other legal documents. Legal secretaries are also required to perform administrative tasks specific to the legal field and carry out general secretarial duties.
These individuals work in various public, semi-public and private legal environments, including ministries, courthouses, legal services, litigation departments, law firms, notary offices or bailiff offices.
Admission Requirements

Canadian Students
You are eligible for this program if you meet the college's educational requirements and fulfill at least one of the following criteria:
- You have interrupted your full-time studies or pursued full-time post-secondary education for at least two (2) consecutive semesters or a school year
- You are covered by an agreement concluded between the college and an employer, or you benefit from a government program
- You have interrupted your full-time studies for one (1) semester and have continued your full-time postsecondary studies for one semester
- You have a diploma of vocational studies (DVS)
- You have a 4th year CST: Mathematics; secondary 4 level Culture, society and technique (063414) or equivalent
Prerequisites
Either Successful completion of the Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in Secretarial Studies (or) Equivalent training (or) 2 years of experience as secretary

Since the fall of 2024, Cestar College, Longueuil campus has implemented a policy for the use of personal devices (BYOD).
Here are the minimum recommended technical requirements for laptops at Cestar College, Longueuil campus:
- Microsoft Windows 11
- 11th generation Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5000 series processor
- Minimum memory of 8 GB (16 GB preferred)
- Webcam functionality
- Audio capability (high-quality speakers and headphones/microphone for classroom use)
- 512GB or larger SSD
- Wireless network adapter compatible with the IEEE 802.11g/n/ac standard
- 15-inch screen or larger (recommended resolution 1920x1080)
- At least 1 full-size USB port (USB 3.0A) and 1 or more USB-C ports.
- Antivirus software required
- Optional: RJ45 10/100/1000 Ethernet connection or USB to Ethernet adapter
The College has established that a Windows-based PC is required. Apple or Chromebook devices are not suitable for Cestar College, Longueuil Campus programs. The College provides registered students with wireless Internet access and access to O365 software downloads.
