Course Description
Are you looking for a mentor? Have you ever thought about sharing your passion and interests with the world through your own cinematic expression? Are there any simple stories that you’ve always wanted to turn into a short film? Why are you waiting? Get started as a modern-day filmmaker and learn the ins-and-outs of short film production with professional mentorship and hands-on experience.
In INTENSIVE SHORT FILM PRODUCTION MENTORSHIP EXPERIENCE, filmmaker Francisco Peres will spend 2 intensive weekends giving students a crash course on everything required to create engaging short form cinematic objects that can go from 1 minute up to 10 minutes, different styles, genres and workflows. Students will learn the concepts and techniques that go into producing engaging short films, focussing on visual storytelling and hands-on experience. In the first weekend you’ll do a group project that will be finished by the end of the first Sunday, during the week you’ll have an online 1 on 1 mentorship meeting about the personal project, on the second weekend you’ll work on your personal project that will be finished by the end of the second Sunday.

Course Prerequisites and Admission
This is a beginner level course and is well suited for anybody interested in short film production.
Required Materials
Laptop or access to a computer with free professional video editing software DaVinci Resolve, a camera or cell phone with a camera
Additional equipment will be available at the college campus.

Minimum Requirements
- A strong uninterrupted broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE) connection with a minimum 600kbps bandwidth (up/down).
- A Laptop/Desktop computer equipped with a single core processor (at least 1 GHZ processing speed) or a smartphone/tablet with equivalent processing capabilities
- Good speakers/earphones to listen to the classes
- Browser - IE7+, Safari 5+, Firefox, Chrome
- Operating System - Windows XP, Mac OS 10.6, Linux distro based on 3.0 kernel, Android 5.0, iOS 10
Cestar Recommendations
- A strong uninterrupted broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE) connection with a minimum 1.5Mbps bandwidth (up/down). You can also connect to the internet directly using your ethernet cable to improve your experience.
- Laptop/Desktop computer equipped with a dual core processor with at least 2 GHZ processing speed and a 4 GB RAM
- High Quality speakers/earphones to listen to the classes
- Browser & Operating System - We recommend using the latest version of the browser and operating system for an optimal online classroom experience.

Francisco Peres
Francisco 'Chico' Peres finished film school in 2010 and has worked in the film and video industry since in several award-winning films, tv and online live-streaming projects. He has taught in several private companies, colleges and programs, creating in-depth practical curriculums on film, multimedia, media literacy, storytelling and professional hands-on experience exercises from scratch. With +20 years of experience, Francisco 'Chico' Peres is a versatile filmmaker, with the right attention to detail that allows him to produce and collaborate in multiple projects simultaneously. He collaborates with companies like Playstation Portugal, Sony Entertainment Portugal, Valnet, Maluco Beleza Productions; award winning podcast Maluco Beleza Podcast, Postal Code Films; award winning feature film Dead Dicks (2019), QULTA.DIGITAL Studios and Wim Wagner Productions; Spiders (2016), Fogo Frio (2022).
