Completion of this program leads to a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) 

A Diploma of Vocational Studies, or DVS, is a diploma that is issued by the Ministry of Education and certifies a student as having completed a secondary-level vocational program for a trade or occupation.

 

A (DVS) will offer you the following advantages:

Admission Requirements

Canadian Students

You are eligible to apply for this program if you satisfy the education requirements of the college and you meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • You have interrupted your full-time studies or pursued full-time post-secondary education for at least two (2) consecutive semesters or a school year
  • You are covered by an agreement concluded between the college and an employer, or you benefit from a government program
  • You have interrupted your full-time studies for one (1) semester and have continued your full-time postsecondary studies for one semester
  • You have a diploma of vocational studies (DVS)
  • You have a 4th year CST: Mathematics; secondary 4 level Culture, society and technique (063414) or equivalent

 

Prerequisites

  • Either The person holds a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent (e.g. attestation of equivalence in level of education) or a higher education diploma, such as a college diploma or a bachelor's degree.
  • or The person is at least 16 years old on September 30 of the school year in which he begins his training and obtained Secondary IV credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in programs of 'studies established by the Minister or carried out apprenticeships recognized as being equivalent.
  • or The person is at least 18 years old at the time of undertaking his training and has the functional prerequisites, that is, the successful completion of the general development test (TDG) as well as the specific prerequisites below or has achieved learning recognized as being equivalents.

  • or The person has obtained Secondary III credits in the language of instruction, second language and mathematics in study programs established by the Minister and will continue his general training in conjunction with his professional training to obtain Secondary IV credits which he is lacking in the language of instruction, the second language and mathematics in study programs established by the Minister.

International Students

You are eligible to apply for this program if you satisfy the education requirements of the college and you meet all of the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 or Equivalent
  • IELTS 6.0 overall score. No band score less than 5.5 (in one module only) or Duolingo * testing score 105-110
  • Language Requirements: a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (internet based with no single band score below 20), or PTE Academic: a minimum score of 53 - Post Secondary Programs
  • Must have scored at least 55% in core subjects

* Duolingo testing has been put in place to address the closures of IELTS testing centers and to promote safe social distancing for our prospective students

Starting with Fall 2024, Cestar Collège is implementing a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy.

Here are the minimum suggested technical requirements for laptops at Cestar Collège: 

The College has established that a Windows-based PC is required. Apple or Chromebook devices are not suitable for Cestar Collège programs.  The College provides registered students with wireless Internet access and access to O365 software downloads.
